Alliance Forum for Development-AFOD Uganda is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization that addresses needs of conflict affected population, rural and urban poor communities in the areas of health, food security, psycho-social support, protection, nutrition, environmental health and research.

AFOD Uganda is looking for dynamic, experienced and qualified Ugandan to fill the position of an IT Assistant.

Terms of Reference (TOR):

Reports to: Operations Manager.

Location: Kampala Country Office.

Contract duration: Six Months with a possibility of extension

Main Job Summary:  The IT Assistant is responsible for providing daily maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and support of AFOD Uganda’s printers, laptops, PC’s, and Network attached storage, LAN and Satellite communication devices, website development, update and management.

Major Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Support in the management and maintenance of AFOD Uganda ICT infrastructure including LAN and WLAN networks, computers and servers across the organization.
  • Provide support in the design of an effective ICT system for the organization following trends in the industry.
  • Install, configure troubleshoot computer hardware and software operating systems.
  • Administer user accounts.
  • Develop, update and Manage Organization’s website.
  • Planning, designing, implementation and troubleshooting of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wireless Local Area Network.
  • Manage, maintain and update organization`s emails.
  • Document all systems configurations, and all relevant passwords and system access requirements.
  • Implement network security measures to protect data, software and hardware.
  • Build staff capacity in usage and consumption of ICT services.
  •  Provide ICT technical and expertise support to procurement office regarding procurement and disposal of ICT goods and services.
  •  Backup Data and schedule preventive maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Ensure compliance and adherence to ICT policies and procedures.
  • Execute the operational plans for the ICT systems and manage inventory of all ICT assets.
  • Ensure users can access applications, systems and resolve network failures in a timely manner.
  • Provide first level support to users for IT related problems, record all incidents and make follow ups for resolution.
  • Assist end users to resolve issues with photocopiers and printers, as well as stand-alone devices.
  • Manage formalized training programs for all users with the aim of raising skills standards and awareness in the use of ICT applications.
  • Prepare periodic reports in line with the organizations reporting guidelines to management.
  • Participate in asset management and regular training activities.
  • Supervise the IT management in the office like internet, back up, anti-virus, equipment/hardware maintenance and movement. 
  • Any other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualification:

At least a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer science from a recognized institution.

2 years` working experience in the same field.

Skills/Core Competencies

  • Networking design and operation principles, system integration requirements and procedures
  • Experience in Microsoft dynamics and working with office 365 specifically SharePoint and one drive.
  • Knowledge on installation, configuration and troubleshooting for operating systems computer office suites, email and internet and intranet.
  • Knowledge on website management.
  • Virus protection and software and identifying addressing and removing virus
  • Should be result oriented and self-motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and demonstrate team work.
